In short

Thermystère does not collect, record or transmit any personal data. The app has no Internet access: it requests no network permission and cannot send anything off your phone.

The microphone

Thermystère is played by voice. The microphone is used only while you turn listening on with the “Parler” (Speak) button, and stops as soon as you turn it off, the game ends, the app goes to the background, or after two minutes without speech. On Android 12 and later, the system shows its usual indicator while the microphone is in use.

What the microphone picks up is analysed on your phone, by a speech recognition engine built into the app (Vosk), to recognise the words you suggest. The sound is never recorded, never stored and never transmitted: it is analysed as it comes in, then discarded. Only the recognised words are shown in the current game.

You can play without the microphone, using the keyboard: permission is only requested the first time you press “Parler”, and you can refuse or revoke it at any time in Android settings.

What stays on your phone

The app keeps your settings (theme and sounds) on your phone, and nowhere else. This information is excluded from Android's automatic backup. It is deleted if you uninstall the app or clear its data.

Advertising, trackers, third-party services

None. Thermystère is free, with no advertising, no account, no analytics and no third-party services.

Children

Thermystère collects no data at all, including from children.
